EXCLUSIVE: Graham Norton ’s novel Forever Home is being made into a drama series for Paramount ’s Channel 5 (now 5) from Anora studio FilmNation Entertainment and Spain’s Mediapro . The high-profile coming together of these studios will roll cameras this year. Forever Home stars Downton Abbey’s Amy Nuttall alongside Douglas Henshall ( The Revenge Club, Shetland ), Denise Welch ( Tip Toe, Waterloo Road ), Kevin Whately ( Inspector Morse , Lewis ), Samantha Bond ( The Marlow Murder Club, The Inheritance ), Lewis Cope ( Emmerdale , Strictly Come Dancing ), Shane Zaza ( Invasion, Big Boys ), Jenny Walser ( Heartstopper, Sweetpea S2 ), and James Baxter ( Alma’s Not Normal, Waterloo Road ). Forever Home follows Carol Crottie, who discovers a long-dead body hidden in the basement of her home, the horrific realization is undeniable - she’s living with a killer. The story that Robert’s first wife, Joan, ran away never to be seen again now looks like a lie, and the fact he has perversely insisted on never selling the house suddenly makes sense. The network is also making a drama about disgraced BBC News anchor Huw Edwards starring Martin Clunes. FilmNation and Mediapro are two impressive studios to be combining on a 5 drama. FilmNation’s movie credits include Anora and Conclave, while on the TV side it counts Prime Video’s upcoming The House of the Spirits, the German-language historical epic Black Gold and Small Town, Big Story for Sky. Spain’s Mediapro, meanwhile, has been moving into the UK and U.S. content game with projects with the likes of Melissa Leo and John Turturro. Norton will EP Forever Home, which is being adapted by Clara Salaman ( Too Close ). Norton’s previous novel Holding was made into an ITV drama series in 2022 starring Kathy Burke. He has written six novel and three non-fiction works. “In writing Forever Hom e, I was initially inspired by the simple idea of packing up a home later in life, and the ‘what if’ scenarios and complexities that come with later-life relationships,” said Norton. “The novel soon evolved into a funny, twisted, ‘dark-romp’ full of farcical scenes and it’s wonderful to see the depth and richness of Carol’s story realized as a screenplay.” FilmNation Creative Director Kirstie Macdonald added: “From the moment I read the always-hilarious Graham Norton’s brilliant novel, I knew I wanted to bring Forever Home to the screen. It’s a story full of twists and turns, secrets, and emotional depth that we can’t wait to bring to life for 5 audiences.” The adaptation is being penned by Salaman ( Too Close ) who will exec produce alongside Norton. Paul Gay ( Vera, Ridley ) and Claire Winyard ( Death Valley, Vera ) are onboard to direct the series. FilmNation Entertainment’s Macdonald developed the project and will EP. Will Nicholson will produce. Erika Kennair and JC Acosta...
