Pakistan PM Showers Rs. 32 Lakh Each For U19 Players That Beat India In Asia Cup Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif awarded 10 million rupees to each U19 Asia Cup-winning player after their victory over India -- the same amount 2017 Champions Trophy winners earned. Share Your Feedback + Follow usOn Google Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday (December 22) announced a huge cash award of 10 million Pakistani rupees (approximately USD 36,000 and INR 32 lakhs) for each of Pakistan’s U19 Asia Cup-winning squad members. Sharif announced the reward at a reception for the team and officials in Islamabad. The young players are being celebrated like national heroes in Pakistan, with a huge welcome back home from Dubai - of a standard that’s often only seen for senior sportspersons. The cash reward is the same as what the senior players earned for beating Virat Kohli’s India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, although it was around USD 95,000 in terms of exchange rates at the time. Recommended Stories After losing to the rivals in the group stage, Pakistan easily beat India in the final, sealing a commanding 191-run victory in a lopsided contest. Sameer Minhas set the tone with a blistering 172 that lifted Pakistan to a formidable 347 for eight, a total that proved far beyond India’s reach. The chase unravelled quickly as Pakistan’s quicks exploited pace and bounce with precision, skittling India for 156 in less than 27 overs. India showed early intent despite losing captain Ayush Mhatre, but two rapid strikes, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s wicket, abruptly halted their momentum and triggered a steady collapse. With wickets tumbling regularly, the batters were unable to withstand Pakistan’s relentless attack. Team mentor Sarfaraz Ahmad, the former Pakistan captain who led the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning team, confirmed the prize money in a press conference in Islamabad. He underlined the team effort behind the success, insisting that the final result was built on partnerships and support rather than individual brilliance. The team’s head coach, Shahid Anwa,r shed light on the extensive groundwork that preceded the title win, revealing that a nationwide talent hunt from June 17 saw 70 players compete in trials before a select group advanced to the final camp. The squad then underwent a focused 10-day camp in Karachi, with former cricketers offering technical guidance. “The process started in June when we picked around 70 players after trials and then reduced the number to 20. Most of these players were then given chances to play 50-over cricket at domestic level," Anwar, a former Test batter, said, as quoted by PTI .
