Putin expels Brit diplomat for ‘spying’ after orchestrated mob of Russian ‘protestors’ shouts abuse at deputy ambassador

RUSSIA has kicked out a Brit diplomat, claiming he is a spy. The diplomat being kicked out of Russia has not been officially named, but reports suggest he is 45-year-old Gareth Samuel Davies, a secretary at the British Embassy in Moscow. The Kremlin said it had been given information “regarding the affiliation of a diplomatic employee at the embassy with the British secret service”. Russia’s foreign ministry said it summoned British charge affairs d’affaires Danae Dholakia to tell her that the unidentified diplomat had two weeks to leave the country, and lodge a “strong protest”. As she left the ministry, Dholakia was heckled by a rent-a-mob crowd who shouted: “Britain is a terrorist country”. The ministry said it would not “tolerate the activities of undeclared British intelligence officers in Russia”.
