YouTube Shorts are built for quick viewing, but endless scrolling can easily extend screen time without users realising it. To promote mindful consumption, YouTube now lets users set a daily time limit for the Shorts feed, with in-app reminders once the limit is reached. The platform says this feature aligns with its long-standing focus on creating a safer digital environment for teens and children, offering built-in protections while still allowing young users to explore educational content, creators, podcasts, and sports they enjoy. Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner. From the menu, go to Settings. Select General. Tap on Shorts feed limit. Browse the available daily time options. Choose a limit that works for you. Once enabled, YouTube will automatically monitor how much time you spend watching Shorts each day and notify you when you hit the selected limit.
