Apple may have hinted at a high-end MacBook Pro launch on January 28

By Ben Lovejoy9to5Mac

The first M5 -powered MacBook Pro launched in October of last year . Apple described the chip as offering “the next big leap in AI for the Mac .” There was no update for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, however, and we are expecting this to happen soon - including M5 Pro and M5 Max options. Apple may now have hinted that the launch date for these will be January 28 ... M5 MacBook Pro Apple began the launch of the M5 MacBook Pro lineup in October of last year with a single model , namely, the 14-inch machine with a base M5 chip. Apple touted the performance gains of the M5, especially for AI applications. With M5, the 14-inch MacBook Pro gets even faster, more capable, and delivers a huge leap in AI performance. The M5 chip features a next-generation GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, delivering up to 3.5x the AI performance and up to 1.6x faster graphics than the previous generation. M5 also includes a faster and more efficient CPU, an enhanced Neural Engine, and higher memory bandwidth that accelerates everything from launching apps to running large language models (LLMs) on device. All specs offer the same 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The only variations on offer are a choice of 16GB or 24GB memory, and 512GB or 1TB SSD storage. High-end MacBook Pro models We’re expecting the imminent announcement of high-end MacBook Pro models. This will comprise the first 16-inch model with an M5 chip, and both sizes with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. We previously said we expect this to happen this month, and Macworld’s Roman Loyola suggests that the date could be January 28. The reason? That’s the launch date for the new Apple Creator Studio subscription . I’m purely speculating here, but Creator Suite and the MacBook Pro have the same professional target audience. In other words, MacBook users are users of the apps in the Creator Suite. It seems like a perfect marketing opportunity to tie them together [...] To add more to the speculation: January 28 is a Wednesday, and Apple often releases new products on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It seems to be an ideal setup. Loyola readily acknowledges that this is just speculation, but it does seem plausible.
