Supermodel Anok Yai has revealed that she has been “silently" battling a serious health condition for the past year. She disclosed that her condition was “overworking" her heart and “slowly destroying" her lungs. Taking to her Instagram account, she shared a post where she opened up about her health diagnosis and also posted a series of glimpses from the hospital, where she was seen recovering after surgery. “For the past year, I’ve been dealing with this silent battle. I incidentally found out I had a Congenital defect overworking my heart and slowly destroying my lungs," she wrote. In her carousel, the 28-year-old model added photos and videos that showed her recovering at NYU Langone Health in New York City, resting in a hospital bed, reading books, and using an oxygen machine following her surgery. One video in her post showed a lighthearted moment in which she woke up after surgery and asked her family, “Does my hair look good?" She added, “What started as something asymptomatic for the majority of my life turned into a lingering cough, which turned to chest pains, bouts of coughing up blood, then at times struggling to breathe." Anok Yai Said She Continued To Work Despite The Symptoms Despite her worsening health, she continued to push through. The model explained, “I chose to work through this while trying to find the right doctor and the right time. I quickly realised there was never going to be a “right time" - my health would continue to worsen. I’ve always thought I could outwork or outrun anything, but the universe has a way of slowing you down and waking you up." Although the supermodel did not reveal the exact diagnosis, she confirmed that she underwent robotic lung surgery, a minimally invasive procedure that uses small incisions and a robotic system to perform the surgery, just a day before sharing the post. In her post, she expressed gratitude to the hospital’s doctors and nurses for their care. She also thanked her loved ones for their constant support during recovery. “For now, I’m healing ... but I’ll be back," she said.
