NATO on brink as Greenland sent 'military reinforcement' after Trump threats Donald Trump has repeatedly stated he wants the US to take over Greenland. Denmark is sending military equipment and advance troops to Greenland, a Danish news outlet reports.The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen has said an attack by the US on Greenland would mean the end of the NATO alliance. Frederiksen said in an interview: “One should take the American president seriously when he says that he wants Greenland.If the US chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything stops, including NATO and thus the security that has been established since the end of the Second World War," the Prime Minister added in the interview with Danish broadcaster TV2. The promise of support comes amid suggestions that the island could become a strategic target following the move to depose Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The diplomatic response highlights a growing commitment to defend the island's sovereignty against international pressure. Authorities have indicated that Greenland may be the next objective in a broader geopolitical strategy, prompting Europe to reinforce its alliance with the territory to maintain its current status. The US President posted on Truth Social today (Wednesday):"The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security. It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building. NATO should be leading the way for us to get it. IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! "Militarily, without the vast power of the United States, much of which I built during my first term, and am now bringing to a new and even higher level, NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent - Not even close! They know that, and so do I. NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES. "Anything less than that is unacceptable. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT" UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer was among those who voiced support for Frederiksen. He told Sky News: “I stand with her, and she’s right about the future of Greenland." France and Germany also said they stand by Greenland. The EU’s executive arm, the European Commission downplayed comparisons between Trump’s designs on Venezuela and Greenland.
