Robert Downey Jr. Says TimothĂ©e Chalamet Is âOne of the Greatsâ and Touts âDunesdayâ as âAvengers: Doomsdayâ and âDune 3â Open on Same Day: âWeâll See If Weâre Still Friendly by Thenâ
TimothĂ©e Chalametâs â Marty Supreme â Oscar campaign got a significant boost during a Q&A for the film moderated by Robert Downey Jr. , who won the supporting actor Oscar for Christopher Nolanâs âOppenheimerâ in 2024. Downey heaped praise on Chalamet, going so far as to call the 30-year-old actor âone of the greatsâ of his profession. âYouâve talked a lot lately about this,â Downey said about Chalametâs pursuit of greatness. âI am literally twice your age. When I was 30, I was making a movie with Norman Jewison. It was called âOnly You.â Me and Marisa Tomei. We were on the Amalfi coast somewhere and I just go to Norman Jewison, you know âMoonstruckâ and all these great movies, I go, âNorman, I think I am one of the greats. I want you to tell me if you agree with that.â He looked at me like I was nuts. He picked up an Actor Award nomination from SAG as well and is also cited on the BAFTA longlist in the best actor category. In one interview that gained heat on social media, Chalamet told a reporter that âMarty Supremeâ marked his best acting role yet after he gave âtop-of-the-line performancesâ over the last âseven, eight years.â He added: âI donât want people to take it for granted. I donât want to take it for granted. This is really some top-level shitâ Chalamet later sat down with âGood Morning Americaâ and made vague comments about the filmâs potential success that many on social media interpreted as the actor predicting heâll be receiving...
