SMC of Munaivendri Govt. school demand immediate renovation of school buildings
Parents of children studying at Government Higher Secondary school at Munaivendri near Ilayangudi here on Monday submitted a petition with Collector K. Porkodi demanding renovation of the school building. They alleged that two classrooms, including a computer room, were severely damaged. “The ceilings are in a dangerous state, with chunks of concrete peeling off and falling every now and then,” they said. Despite filing complaints with the Department of School Education, the Public Works Department (PWD), and the Tahsildar’s office, no proper action had been taken so far. Due to such conditions, the student enrolment at the school was decreasing day by day. Additionally, an electric pole on the school premises was in a hazardous condition, posing a safety threat, they added. Emphasising the urgent need to renovate the school building, members of the School Management Committee urged the district administration to intervene before the occurrence of any untoward incident.
