‘The Pitt’ Creator R. Scott Gemmill Signs With UTA

R. Scott Gemmill has signed has signed with UTA for representation in all areas. The news comes soon after the Season 2 premiere of “The Pitt,” on which Gemmill serves as creator, showrunner and executive producer. The medical procedural drama reteams him with Noah Wyle, who executive produces in addition to starring, and who starred in NBC’s “ER,” which Gemmill wrote and produced on for nine seasons from 1999 to 2007. Season 1 scored a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and Season 2 crept even higher with a 99%; Variety critic Alison Herman wrote of a “triumphant return,” saying the season “thrives in quieter moments, especially as the actors ever so slightly modulate their performances to reflect the evolution of their characters.” It has already been renewed for a third season . So far, “The Pitt” has won five Emmys and two Golden Globes, including both awards for best drama series and lead drama actor (Wyle). Gemmill was also nominated for the drama writing award for “The Pitt” and received two best drama series nominations during the run of “ER.” Popular on Variety Gemmill’s credits as a writer and producer also include “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “JAG,” both on CBS. Gemmill continues to be repped by Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox. “Scott is one of television’s most insightful and emotionally resonant storytellers, and ‘The Pitt’ has quickly become a defining drama of this moment,” UTA Vice Chairman Jay Sures said in a statement. “We are thrilled to partner with him on this next chapter in his remarkable career.”
