Stranger Things: One Last Adventure premiered on Netflix on January 12, 2026, packaged as a treat for the Stranger Things fans. However, it seems like this move has ignited fury across the internet. A documentary on the pre-production and shooting process of the fifth and final instalment of the horror mystery and science fiction series, it has started a new wave of conversation on how Matt and Ross Duffer ruined the show, alleging that they used ChatGPT to write the show. Snippets of the same are going viral, along with the shock over the makers’ revealing that they didn’t have the entire script ready before starting to shoot the first episode. As soon as the documentary premiered on the OTT platform, fans took to their social media handles to scrutinise the makers over their creative decisions for the season finale. Formerly known as Twitter, X has now been flooded with heavy criticism targeting the Duffer Brothers for their ā€˜incompetent’ script writing and ā€˜narcissistic’ behaviour. Many are circulating images where multiple ChatGPT and Reddit tabs are seen open on Matt and Ross’ laptop. One wrote, ā€œwhat a lame way to end stranger things like all the hype + ā€˜nO OnE wiLL PrEdIcT tHe EndINg’.ā€ Another wrote, ā€œA CHATGPT TAB YOU CANT BE SERIOUSUXHCHSJXHCHH.ā€ One started, ā€œThe Duffer Bros used ChatGPT, lied about cutting scenes, started production before finishing writing the finale, and they purposefully ignored the other writers trying to help them or offering suggestions.
