
The Songs With the Most Weeks at No. 1 on Every Billboard Airplay Chart
Like a brightly shining star atop a Christmas tree, Mariah Carey âs âAll I Want for Christmas Is Youâ has spent a record 60 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard âs Holiday Airplay chart. Not only is the total a best for that Yuletide list, it marks the most time spent at No. 1 on any Billboard radio-based ranking. âWhen I wrote [it], I had absolutely no idea the impact the song would eventually have worldwide,â Carey marveled to Billboard in 2021 of the jingle, which has posted weeks at the Holiday Airplay summit in the 2000s, â10s and â20s. âIâm so full of gratitude that so many people enjoy it with me every year.â In second place among songs with the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard radio charts, Miley Cyrusâ âFlowersâ ruled Adult Contemporary for 57 weeks in 2023-24. ââFlowersâ is one of those songs that has stood the test of time at multiple formats,â Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia president, programming operations/digital music, told Billboard in 2024. âItâs a mass-appeal song with a very strong hook and sounds like a song you already knew the first time you heard it.â Meanwhile, âFlowersâ holds the record for the most weeks - 106 - notched at No. 1 on all of Billboard âs airplay charts combined , as it also ran up reigns of 18 weeks on the all-format Radio Songs chart, 17 weeks on Adult Pop Airplay, 10 weeks on Pop Airplay and four weeks on Dance/Mix Show Airplay. Mused Zellner further, âFlowersâ is among âsongs that will be part of radio station libraries and streaming playlists for many years and likely played by classic hits stations 20 years from now.â Ranking third for longevity atop radio charts, Marvin Sappâs âNever Would Have Made Itâ dominated Gospel Airplay for 46 weeks in 2007-08. Plus, among newly rewritten records, Alex Warrenâs âOrdinaryâ is now the longest-leading hit in the history of the Adult Pop Airplay chart, having bested Santanaâs âSmoothâ (featuring Rob Thomas), which held the mark for more than 25 years. Previously in 2025, âOrdinaryâ became the longest-ruling title on Pop Airplay, as it passed Ace of Baseâs âThe Sign,â which was the listâs record holder for more than 30 years.
