MLA told to vacate office

MLA told to vacate office

Perumbavoor MLA Eldhose Kunnappilly was asked to vacate his office in a private building on Friday, allegedly following a dispute over the election of the municipal chairperson. The Congress legislator was told to move his office from the building owned by the husband of Jessy Agi, a two-time councillor who was considered a potential candidate for the post of chairperson, though it did not materialise. The action was reportedly initiated as a mark of protest against it. Power supply to the building near the KSRTC bus station was reportedly disconnected, and the name board of the MLA was removed in the morning by the time the MLA’s staff arrived there. Congress sources said Mr. Kunnappilly had used the building as his office earlier and returned only recently after moving to another facility in between. There was reportedly no formal agreement between the MLA and the building owner over the right to use it. Neither Ms. Agi nor her husband has made any comment on the matter. The MLA has also refused to comment. Published - December 27, 2025 12:27 am IST
