Kirk Cameron: Why Helping Children âSucceed And Winâ Matters More Than Ever
Actor Kirk Cameron has spent the last several years bravely engaging in the culture war. Despite a history in Hollywood, however, the âGrowing Painsâ alum has been doing battle in public libraries. In an interview with The Daily Wireâs â Morning Wire â released on Wednesday, Cameron discussed why he believes the fight begins with young people. Cameron said it was becoming a father and that really got him thinking about these issues. âOnce you become a dad, and now Iâm a grandfather, Iâm beginning to think legacy,â he told Morning Wire. âIâm beginning to think of how can I help my children succeed and win.â For Cameron, that meant investing in âthe moral spiritual health of my children and my grandchildrenâ by creating content that does not âbend with the political winds.â He pointed to beloved figures like Mr. Rogers and asked, âWhoâs our guy today whoâs gonna do that?... If not me, then who?â This inspired Cameron to launch Brave Books and the childrenâs television series âAdventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk.â He described reception as divided along the Right and Left political spectrum. âWell, it depends on who you ask,â Cameron said of the reception. âThe drag queens donât like the books much. We donât want this other stuff, but weâre being marginalized and silenced.ââ Critics often frame Christian values as inherently discriminatory. Cameron rejected that premise outright. âEvery view is inherently discriminatory,â he said, âparticularly the progressive inclusive view, as I experienced.â The TV star quipped that heâs been ârun over by the tolerance bus several times.â âIf someoneâs coming at you with a sign that says âlove everybody,â be careful,â Cameron added. âThey might whack you over the head with it.â Cameron told Morning Wire that the root of the problem is conflicting worldviews. âThere are ideas that lead to liberty and blessing, and then thereâs ideas that donât,â he said. The TV star said his own values are âthe value set of Moses thatâs been around for thousands of years and produced the worldâs greatest civilizations.â Cameron said heâs been encouraged by recent changes in the culture. âThree years ago we were being locked out of public libraries,â he said. âThis last year we were invited by the Library of Congress... so that we could read these same books.â âWhoever rocks the cradle rules the future,â...
