Jennifer Lawrence Thinks She Missed Out On âOnce Upon a Time In Hollywoodâ Role Because Trolls Said She Was âNot Pretty Enough To Play Sharon Tateâ
After Margot Robbie channeled Sharon Tate 50 years after the actressâ death in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood , Jennifer Lawrence recently recalled chatter that she was up for the role. When asked about writer/director Quentin Tarantino âs interest in working with her, the Oscar winner said âhe didâ want her to star in the 2019 revisionist history ensemble film, but she believes online reactions to the potential casting dissuaded him. âAnd then everybody was like, âSheâs not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate,'â she recalled on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. âAnd then they didnât.â Lawrence added, âIâm pretty sure it is true. Or itâs that thing where Iâve been telling the story this way for so long that I believe it. No, but Iâm pretty sure that happened. Or he just was never considering me for the part, and the internet just like went out of their way to call me ugly.â Watch on Deadline Responding to host Josh Horowitzâs disbelief over the audacity of internet trolls, Lawrence sarcastically quipped, âNo, those sweetie pies?â Meanwhile, Lawrence said she was offered the role of Daisy in Tarantinoâs The Hateful Eight (2015), which ultimately went to Jennifer Jason Leigh. âI turned it down. I should not have done [that],â admitted Lawrence. If Broadway is on her mind, Lawrence could still work with Tarantino. After scrapping plans for his 10th and final film, the director is taking a break from filmmaking, previously telling Deadline heâs â really juiced about live theater right nowâ at Sundance last January.
