Nick Reiner Had Been In A Conservatorship 5 Years Before Rob & Michele’s Murders
New information about Nick Reiner ’s life before the brutal murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner , is coming to light. As we previously reported, the 32-year-old was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder back in 2020. We know Nick was placed on medication for the disorder, but the doctor changed it due to complaints about weight gain one month before the killings, despite the drugs working. But what else was done? That same year, it turns out that Nick entered into a mental health conservatorship, two people with knowledge of the legal arrangement told The New York Times on Thursday. A clerk with the Los Angeles Superior Cour t also confirmed the conservatorship ended in 2021. However, don’t expect to find out much more from the sources. They would not get into details about the arrangement, citing confidentiality. Baer only said that mental illness “is an epidemic that is widely misunderstood and this is a horrible tragedy.” The New York Times reported Nick was placed into an LPS conservatorship, which is typically initiated by a doctor and follows an involuntary psychiatric hospitalization. And in LA County, officials from the Office of the Public Guardian assess whether a conservatorship is needed before making a case for the judge. It normally lasts only a year, but a conservator can try to renew it. It’s unknown why Nick’s conservatorship wasn’t renewed at this time. Reactions, Perezcious readers?
