ASHOK Chennai Central MP Dayanidhi Maran has requested the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to consider rescheduling the exams which have been scheduled to be held from January 5 to 24 next year. In a letter addressed to Charanjot Singh Nanda, president of ICAI, Mr. Maran said the CA exams planned to be held for foundation, intermediate and final categories, were during Pongal festival to be celebrated from January 14 to 17. While the ICAI has no examination to be held on January 14 which is celebrated all over the country as Makar Sankranti, Pongal festival is celebrated on January 15 followed by Thiruvallur Day on 16 and Uzhavar Thirunal on 17. As the Pongal festival is celebrated as a multi-day festival in large parts of the State during which students and families participate in various cultural and religious activities, he requested the ICAI to review and amend the January 2026 examination schedule to avoid clustering of key papers immediately before and after the major regional holidays.
