Who Is VV Rajesh? The BJP Leader Set To Become Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Rajesh is currently serving his second term in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, representing the Kodunganoor ward. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced party Kerala Secretary and Kodunganoor ward councillor VV Rajesh as its mayoral candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Karumam ward councillor GS Asha Nath has been named as the deputy mayor candidate. The party also named PL Babu as the chairperson candidate for the Thrippunithura Municipality in Ernakulam, while Radhika Varma has been named as the vice chairperson candidate. In the 2025 local body elections, he won the seat with a margin of 515 votes. Rajesh had also entered the electoral fray in the 2021 Kerala Assembly election from the Vattiyoorkavu constituency as the BJP candidate. He secured 39,596 votes and finished in second place, behind CPI(M)’s VK Prasanth, who polled 61,111 votes, winning by a margin of 21,515 votes. A senior leader in the party, Rajesh holds the position of BJP state secretary and has played several key organisational roles over the years. He has previously served as the Thiruvananthapuram district president and as the state president of the BJP Yuva Morcha. Rajesh began his political career in 1996 and has been active in politics for nearly three decades.
