Heated Rivalry's François Arnaud Details "F--k Up" in Romance Timeline

These Heated Rivalry questions deserve some sunshine. And François Arnaud was happy to address them. Indeed, the actor revealed that his character Scott Hunter and his boyfriend Kip Grady ( Robbie Graham-Kuntz ) weren't actually meant to be broken up for three years before the hockey player's public declaration of love. "The way that we shot it, there was a f--k up in the timeline," François explained in a clip of his upcoming Jan. 20 interview on SiriusXM's Smith Sisters Live . "A lot of it was really well conceived, but the juxtaposition of the two story lines-they didn't really know how they were going to cut from one to the other." After all, the New York Admirals captain's romance-in which he eventually broke up with Kip in episode three amid his fears of coming out as gay-took place as Montreal Metros' Shane Hollander ( Hudson Williams ) and Boston Raiders' Ilya Rozanov ( ) were in the thick of their nearly-decade-long love story. Connor Storrie "So, we shot it thinking it was six months between [Kip's] birthday and the Cup," François shared, "and now it's three years." The 40-year-old-whose character earned the MVP Award after kissing Kip on the ice following the Admirals' championship win-revealed that dialogue was even changed post-production to make the timeline work. "In episode six, there was a line, and they locked the cut, so it was definitely on my face where I say, 'Fear is a powerful thing, but this year I found the one thing that is more powerful,'" the Yellowjackets actor explained. "It was this year , I found the thing that is more powerful, but it couldn't be this year." Instead, as Scott stood at the podium giving his speech, he said, "Fear is a powerful thing. But then I found the one thing that is more powerful." But François also commended the editing that made the timeline make sense, noting that "it works."
