Man arrested for running illegal clinic in Thoraipakkam

A 38-year-old man was arrested in Okkiyam, Thoraipakkam on Wednesday for allegedly running an illegal clinic and prescribing allopathic medicine. Health officials found that he had been treating patients for over a decade without a medical degree. Police seized a fake MBBS certificate during the investigation. The accused, Vijayakumar, a resident of the area, claimed to have learnt physiotherapy, but had only completed up to Class XII. He claimed to have worked as a physiotherapist for nearly ten years. According to police, he operated ‘Vijay Clinic’ near his residence for the past three months, posing as a doctor, prescribing allopathic drugs to his patients . The Kannagi Nagar police registered a case and arrested Vijayakumar. Published - December 25, 2025 11:55 pm IST
