Man, son held for setting on fire goods in house due to enmity over love marriage

A man and his son were arrested on the charge of torching articles in the house of one B. Priyadarshini in Tirumangalam due to enmity over a love marriage on Wednesday night. The police said Ms. Priyadarshini’s younger brother Aswathaman had fallen in love with Kavirajan’s daughter. He married her against the wishes of the girl’s family six months back and was living outside Tirumangalam. Angered over this incident, Kavirajan’s son Kaushik barged into the house of Ms. Priyadarshini and set on fire household articles by pouring petrol on them. Tirumangalam Town police are investigating. Published - December 25, 2025 10:35 pm IST
