Emma Tucker Announces Key WSJ Leadership Appointments

By Anthony.Zurita@dowjones.comPress Room Archive - Dow Jones

A note to WSJ staff from Emma Tucker, Editor in Chief of The Wall Street Journal. Dear all, I am writing to share some important appointments to our executive leadership team that will be critical to advancing our newsroom strategy and commitment to revelatory, audience-first journalism. To maximize the Journal’s potential, we will have two Deputy Editors in Chief. I am delighted to announce Aja Whitaker-Moore will be joining the Journal in this role, and David Crow , our current Executive Editor, will be promoted. Together, David and Aja will be critical partners to me in all aspects of our newsgathering operations . David will oversee news and manage stories across all coverage areas, while Aja will focus on digital operations, talent development and the integration of AI throughout the newsroom. Aja joins us from Axios, where she was Editor in Chief overseeing its National, Local and Pro newsrooms. Aja joined Axios in 2020 as managing editor. Prior, she was the global editor-in-chief of fixed income for the Acuris Group, and the deputy editor in chief at Debtwire. Aja brings deep experience in business and finance combined with a strong track record of digital-first storytelling. Since joining the Journal two years ago, David has played a vital role in managing news, features and storytelling across our platforms. His judgment, editorial instincts and proven ability to run news at the Journal are exceptional, and this new role will broaden his scope over critical editorial decisions. Additionally, I’m delighted to share that Dan Colarusso will join as our new coverage chief for Business, Finance and Economics. Dan was most recently at CNBC where he was senior vice president of business news and oversaw television news content, coverage and production for CNBC’s Business Day programming. He was previously at Reuters as executive editor of digital, and has held key editorial roles at Bloomberg, Condé Nast and the New York Post. Dan brings more than two decades of strong business journalism credentials and experience in developing products and digital strategy. Both Aja and Dan will start December 15. Please join me in welcoming them, and congratulating David on his promotion. Emma
