Lamb of God Announce New Album Into Oblivion, Unleash Title Track
Lamb of God have announced their first new album in four years, Into Oblivion , out March 13th. The band has also offered up the title track, which serves as the LPâs opening song. Laced with chugging riffs, mosh-inducing breakdowns, and eerie horror-soundtrack overtones, the three-minute-forty-second track is a sufficiently brutal way to kick things off - and introduce the core themes behind the album and its title, Into Oblivion . âBecause thatâs where weâre heading,â stated vocalist Randy Blythe of the albumâs title. âIn general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America. Things are acceptable now that wouldâve horrified people just 20 years ago.â Prior to officially announcing the album, Lamb of God dropped a pair of singles in recent months - âSepsisâ and âParasocial Christâ - both of which made the tracklist. Notably, each number has its own sound, âSepsisâ falling into sludge metal, âParasocial Christâ being more straight-ahead LoG thrash/groove metal, and âInto Oblivionâ tapping into more tech-y metalcore. Related Video âFor me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation,â guitarist Mark Morton said. âIt feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, âLetâs just make music that we think is cool,â which is really where it all started.â Into Oblivion was produced and mixed by longtime studio collaborator Josh Wilbur across multiple locations tied closely to the bandâs identity. Drums were tracked in Lamb of Godâs home city of Richmond, Virginia, with guitars and bass recorded at Mortonâs home studio. Blythe recorded his vocals at the legendary Total Access studio in Redondo Beach, California, the locale of seminal punk recordings by Black Flag, HĂŒsker DĂŒ, and Descendents. Lamb of God will be supporting the LPâs release with a previously announced North American tour that sports a stacked support package of Kublai Khan TX, Fit for an Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg. The trek launches March 17th in National Harbor, Maryland, and you can get tickets here . Pre-orders for Into Oblivion are under way via the bandâs webstore .
