Why Brian Austin Green Felt Insecure During Tichina Arnold Romance
Brian Austin Green and Tichina Arnold had a secret but real love. The Beverly Hills 90210 star recalled how the actressâs decision to keep their interracial relationship private during the height of their fame in the 90s impacted his self esteem and confidence. âComing from Martin , she was very clear on day one of like, 'Nobody can know about this,ââ Brian recalled to Deon Cole on the Funny Knowing You podcast Jan. 14. â'Canât tell people, canât talk about this.â I was in my early 20s. I was living in a culture that wasnât accepting of me, but there was no way to get out of it because that was where my brain and my heart were.â âAnd then I have someone that Iâm attracted to whoâs telling me, âYou canât tell anybody,ââ he continued. "I think for me it really triggered something of, 'Iâm not good enough for any of this. You donât even want your friends to know that youâre hanging out with me.ââ But while Brian noted that Tichina eventually had a change of heart and took their relationship public, it was too late. âAll of a sudden she was very cool with it,â he explained. âBut my head didnât understand, and I still felt insecure and weird being out with her. I was going to all of the places hip-hop was existing. So, you usually date the people that you are around. So of course, I was dating majority Black women at the time because we had common interest.â To this day, Brian is adamant that he and Tichina have nothing but love for each other. âWe were unapologetically ourselves,â he said. âSo even when she in her mind, I donât want to do this, I donât want to get hurt.
