Brian Austin Green and Tichina Arnold had a secret but real love. The Beverly Hills 90210 star recalled how the actress’s decision to keep their interracial relationship private during the height of their fame in the 90s impacted his self esteem and confidence. “Coming from Martin , she was very clear on day one of like, 'Nobody can know about this,’” Brian recalled to Deon Cole on the Funny Knowing You podcast Jan. 14. “'Can’t tell people, can’t talk about this.’ I was in my early 20s. I was living in a culture that wasn’t accepting of me, but there was no way to get out of it because that was where my brain and my heart were.” “And then I have someone that I’m attracted to who’s telling me, ‘You can’t tell anybody,’” he continued. "I think for me it really triggered something of, 'I’m not good enough for any of this. You don’t even want your friends to know that you’re hanging out with me.’” But while Brian noted that Tichina eventually had a change of heart and took their relationship public, it was too late. “All of a sudden she was very cool with it,” he explained. “But my head didn’t understand, and I still felt insecure and weird being out with her. I had that thing of, ‘Oh people are looking at me funny.’ or they’re wondering why the f--k am I here.” For her part, Tichina has previously spoken about their brief romance, noting that while Brian was “nice,” she ended things because she didn’t believe there was a future for them. “I told him I said, ‘The reason we have come to the end of our road, I see you dating all these Black women and now you’re dating me, and you’re not going to end up with a Black woman,’” the Neighborhood actress said to Deon during her own appearance on the Funny Knowing You podcast Dec. 31. “'You’re going to share your riches and your legacy with someone white, so I’m getting off this train.’” However, Brian disputed his exes’ claims about the validity of their romance. “I heard Tichina talking like it was something I was trying out, nothing I really took seriously, dating Black women,” he said in his conversation with Deon. “Hip-Hop was my world. I was going to all of the places hip-hop was existing. So, you usually date the people that you are around. So of course, I was dating majority Black women at the time because we had common interest.” To this day, Brian is adamant that he and Tichina have nothing but love for each other. “We were unapologetically ourselves,” he said. “So even when she in her mind, I don’t want to do this, I don’t want to get hurt. We never held it against each other. Ever.” “That’s my girl,” Brian-who began dating Sharna Burgess in 2021 after his split from ex-wife Megan Fox -added. “I will always have her back she will...
