On Tuesday, the Clintons wrote a letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman, informing him that they do not plan to appear for their scheduled depositions. “Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences,” the Clintons wrote in the letter. “For us, now is that time.” “We are confident that any reasonable person in or out of Congress will see, based on everything we release, that what you are doing is trying to punish those who you see as your enemies and to protect those you think are your friends,” they wrote. The Clintons also said they had anticipated that Comer would still direct his committee to seek to hold them in contempt, and they expected him to “release irrelevant, decades-old photos that you hope will embarrass us.” This is not about Right or Left, it’s about Right and Wrong. - Bill Clinton (@BillClinton) pic.twitter.com/IVQh3yHEGG January 13, 2026 Comer, who said that the Committee would initiate contempt proceedings against them, also noted that no one is accusing Clinton of wrongdoing, but lawmakers have questions. While the relationship between Clinton and Epstein, which goes back to the 1990s, has been well documented, the former US president has not been accused of any wrongdoing by any of the survivors. Clinton has also repeatedly denied having known about Epstein’s involvement in sex trafficking. In December 2025, as part of the release of the Epstein documents , the US DOJ released several photographs of Clinton with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in various social settings, such as on private planes and at a pool.
