Nepal woman’s health improves after heart transplant at Ernakulam GH: Kerala Health Minister - The Hindu

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said here on Saturday (December 27, 2025) that the health condition of Nepal national Durga Kami, who underwent a heart transplant at the Ernakulam General Hospital (GH) on December 22, 2025, has improved. Ms. George, who visited her at the hospital, said that efforts are on to ensure maximum medical care and support to the patient. An expert team is monitoring her health condition, she said in a release here. The Minister said that the General Hospital was able to carry out the heart transplant procedure through the concerted efforts involving several persons. The super speciality services were set up utilising the assistance under the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board, she said while praising the doctors at the hospital for the unique achievement.
