Man gets death sentence for sexual assault on daughter

The Special Court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act cases here on Wednesday awarded death sentence to a 49-year-old man from Munnanjipatti for sexually abusing and impregnating his daughter. The judgment was delivered by POCSO Court Judge K. Suresh Kumar. According to the prosecution, the daily wage labourer sexually assaulted his daughter and threatened her that he would kill his wife (the victim’s mother), if she revealed the abuse. As the child fell ill, her mother took her to Government Primary Health Care Centre in Munnanjipatti where examinations confirmed that the girl was pregnant. After learning that the child’s father was responsible for the crime, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint at Nanguneri All Women’s police station in February 2025. The Judge imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on him. The court ordered the government to pay ₹10 lakh as compensation for the victim. Published - December 24, 2025 05:59 pm IST
