Barbra Streisand Praises Ariana Grande ‘SNL’ Christmas Episode: ‘I’m Very Proud of You’

Just a few days after she shared the Saturday Night Live stage with Cher, Ariana Grande received some high praise from another Oscar-winning music and film icon: Barbra Streisand . “Ariana is a young woman with an amazing talent,” Babs wrote in the caption of a sweet picture of herself with Grande. “She has a beautiful voice like no one else, and so much more. She can act, she can dance, she can be funny! She’s also sweet, kind and thoughtful. I’m very proud of you, Ariana, and thanks for singing with me on my album.” In June, Grande, alongside fellow vocal powerhouse Mariah Carey , joined Streisand for “One Heart, One Voice,” a standout cut from the Funny Girl star’s The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two . Serving as her 37th studio album and sequel to 2014’s Partners , The Secret of Life reached No. 4 on Top Album Sales and earned a nomination for best traditional pop vocal album at the 2026 Grammys . After signing off with a “big hug,” Streisand added, “You were wonderful on Saturday Night Live and looked so pretty,” tagging the “We Can’t Be Friends” singer, who responded with a smattering of expressive emojis and exclamation points across two separate comments. “Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this kindest surprise today,” Grande gushed. “You made my day, my year, my life! This means so much coming from you. I just love you so. I miss you, and I hope I get to hug you soon. ... All my love and appreciation. Thank you.” During the Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live , Grande spoofed Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for her opening monologue , revived her hilarious Antonio character, and expertly parodied stars from Céline Dion to Katy Perry - in an astronaut suit, no less! Cher, who delivered campy renditions of “DJ Play a Christmas Song” and “Run Rudolph Run” in her first SNL performances since 1987, joined the festivities to help the cast bid farewell to Bowen Yang. An Emmy-nominated comedian who also starred alongside Grande in both Wicked films, Yang officially departed the series with Saturday’s episode after a seven-and-a-half-year run. Though Streisand and Grande grew closer as collaborators this year, the two multihyphenates have been linked for much longer. In 2019, Grande joined Streisand onstage for a performance of “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)” at the EGOT winner’s concert. Coincidentally, Grande’s next film is Focker-in-Law , the fourth installment in the Meet the Parents series.
