Barbra Streisand Praises Ariana Grande âSNLâ Christmas Episode: âIâm Very Proud of Youâ
Trending on Billboard Divas stick together. Just a few days after she shared the Saturday Night Live stage with Cher, Ariana Grande received some high praise from another Oscar-winning music and film icon: Barbra Streisand . âAriana is a young woman with an amazing talent,â Babs wrote in the caption of a sweet picture of herself with Grande. âShe has a beautiful voice like no one else, and so much more. She can act, she can dance, she can be funny! Sheâs also sweet, kind and thoughtful. Iâm very proud of you, Ariana, and thanks for singing with me on my album.â In June, Grande, alongside fellow vocal powerhouse Mariah Carey , joined Streisand for âOne Heart, One Voice,â a standout cut from the Funny Girl starâs The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two . Serving as her 37th studio album and sequel to 2014âs Partners , The Secret of Life reached No. 4 on Top Album Sales and earned a nomination for best traditional pop vocal album at the 2026 Grammys . After signing off with a âbig hug,â Streisand added, âYou were wonderful on Saturday Night Live and looked so pretty,â tagging the âWe Canât Be Friendsâ singer, who responded with a smattering of expressive emojis and exclamation points across two separate comments. âOh my goodness, thank you so much for this kindest surprise today,â Grande gushed. âYou made my day, my year, my life! This means so much coming from you. I just love you so. I miss you, and I hope I get to hug you soon. ... All my love and appreciation. Thank you.â During the Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live , Grande spoofed Careyâs âAll I Want for Christmas Is Youâ for her opening monologue , revived her hilarious Antonio character, and expertly parodied stars from CĂ©line Dion to Katy Perry - in an astronaut suit, no less! Cher, who delivered campy renditions of âDJ Play a Christmas Songâ and âRun Rudolph Runâ in her first SNL performances since 1987, joined the festivities to help the cast bid farewell to Bowen Yang. An Emmy-nominated comedian who also starred alongside Grande in both Wicked films, Yang officially departed the series with Saturdayâs episode after a seven-and-a-half-year run. Though Streisand and Grande grew closer as collaborators this year, the two multihyphenates have been linked for much longer. In 2019, Grande joined Streisand onstage for a performance of âNo More Tears (Enough Is Enough)â at the EGOT winnerâs concert. Coincidentally, Grandeâs next film is Focker-in-Law , the fourth installment in the Meet the Parents series. Streisand starred in the first three movies - and she hasnât completely ruled out a return to the franchise. Check out Barbra Streisandâs sweet message to Ariana Grande below.
