Tragically, all of this unfolded on Clayton’s 11th birthday. Court records indicate the situation stemmed from a dispute earlier that evening after Douglas allegedly took away Clayton’s Nintendo Switch. Additionally, Douglas reportedly told Clayton it was time for bed following a midnight birthday celebration. Upset Clayton Enters Room, Chaos Ensues Investigators say that sometime after his parents went to sleep, Clayton entered their bedroom while upset. Authorities report that a firearm secured in the home was accessed, and Douglas Dietz was later found unresponsive. Clayton’s mother reportedly woke up after hearing a loud noise and quickly realized something was wrong before contacting emergency services. Police arrived at the home around 3 a.m. and pronounced Douglas Dietz dead.
