What began as a family moment meant to celebrate a birthday ended in an unimaginable tragedy in Pennsylvania. According to authorities , 11-year-old Clayton Dietz has been charged with criminal homicide in the death of his adoptive father, 42-year-old Douglas Dietz . Now, everyone’s asking questions about parenting, safety, and accountability. RELATED: Prayers Up! 17-Year-Old Girl Fatally Shot In Her Home By Teen She Was Allegedly Dating (VIDEO) Gaming Dispute Leads To Father’s Death The incident reportedly occurred late Monday night into early Tuesday inside their home in Duncannon, a suburb of Harrisburg in Pennsylvania. Tragically, all of this unfolded on Clayton’s 11th birthday. Court records indicate the situation stemmed from a dispute earlier that evening after Douglas allegedly took away Clayton’s Nintendo Switch. Additionally, Douglas reportedly told Clayton it was time for bed following a midnight birthday celebration. Upset Clayton Enters Room, Chaos Ensues Investigators say that sometime after his parents went to sleep, Clayton entered their bedroom while upset. Authorities report that a firearm secured in the home was accessed, and Douglas Dietz was later found unresponsive. Clayton’s mother reportedly woke up after hearing a loud noise and quickly realized something was wrong before contacting emergency services. Police arrived at the home around 3 a.m. and pronounced Douglas Dietz dead. Remorse And Reality Hit After Tragic Incident Authorities claim that Clayton became distraught and expressed immediate remorse. “ My dad’s dead, ” he is said to have yelled as he ran downstairs. “ I killed my dad. I hate myself. “ Furthermore, investigators noted that the child told police he acted out of anger and did not fully understand the consequences of his actions. Pennsylvania law automatically processes anyone charged with murder, regardless of age, through adult criminal court. And, court records show Clayton Dietz has a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 22. As of now, the case remains under investigation while the public alike grapple with the devastating outcome of a family dispute that ended in irreversible loss.
