Karnataka Minister promises early execution of PM MITRA Textile Park in Kalaburagi

Karnataka’s Minister for Textiles and Agricultural Marketing Shivanand Patil promised early execution of the proposed PM MITRA Textile Park in Kalaburagi which is awaiting completion of key State-level formalities. On December 22, he gave this assurance during a meeting with representatives of the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) and Kalaburagi North MLA Kaneez Fatima, at the APMC Yard in Kalaburagi. A KKCCI delegation, led by its president Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and secretary Shivaraj V. Inginshetty, submitted a memorandum to the Minister seeking early implementation of the project. During the interaction, Mr. Pappa referred to a KKCCI delegation’s recent meeting with Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh during the winter session of Parliament in New Delhi and said that Union Minister was positive towards their plea and had mentioned that further steps would be taken after clearance at the State level. Mr. Pappa pointed out that the Kalaburagi PM MITRA Textile Park was lagging behind similar projects announced elsewhere in India and urged the government of Karnataka to complete all pending formalities within a stipulated time frame to avoid further delay. Responding to the concerns, Mr. Patil said the land transfer process had been completed and that a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) had been formed. He said the total project outlay was ₹390 crore, of which ₹150 crore had been sanctioned through the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB). The remaining share had been sought from the State Government, and of this, ₹50.9 crore had been released for tender related work. The Minister added that tenders had been issued for KPTCL work, road development, construction of a water barrage and other essential infrastructure, and assured that the remaining work would be taken up and completed at the earliest. Welcoming the assurances, KKCCI expressed that further delay would adversely affect employment generation and industrial growth in the Kalaburagi region, and stated that coordinated action by the State and Central governments would ensure time-bound execution of the project.
