Mari Fonseca Wore Schiaparelli to Marry Drew Taggart at a Classic Beach Wedding in Costa Rica When The Chainsmokers producer and DJ Drew Taggart met Brazilian model Mari Fonseca , he was inspired to write a song. The couple would take the next step together towards their future on December 1, 2024, when Drew surprised Mari with a proposal. To get her to the engagement location, Drew asked Mari’s friend to invite her out to dinner at Giorgio Baldi in Los Angeles. “I normally wouldn’t have gone out, but I rarely get to see her, so I agreed,” shares Mari. “When I arrived, I found Drew alone in the private backroom that he had filled with beautiful red flowers and candles. It took me a second to catch on-I couldn’t stop laughing. He got down on one knee, and I don’t think either of us remembers what he said, but it worked!” An hour later, the to-be-weds had their closest friends and family arrive to join them in the celebrations. The couple decided to get married just over a year later on December 28, 2025, at the Blue Mist Hotel in Santa Theresa, Costa Rica-”our favorite place we have discovered together,” shares Drew. Mari adds, “We chose one of the most beautiful backdrops we could think of which allowed us to curate a blend of the natural beauty of the tropical west coast of Costa Rica with timeless details.” One of the biggest challenges of wedding planning? “Our schedules didn’t allow us to make it back to Santa Theresa until five days before the wedding,” notes the bride. They never even met their wedding planners, Keri Schemling and Kristina Ulrich , in person before arriving for the celebration. “We put a lot of trust into our incredible wedding planners to deliver on the vision that we had for a simple but elegant wedding,” says Mari. The couple decided to trim away traditions like a formal rehearsal dinner to focus on creating an amazing, one-day black-tie event. “We started out with the goal of having a small and simple wedding in a beautiful location, but we became obsessed with the details,” says Drew. “In the end, it was the same amount of work as a large wedding would have been.” The groom advises couples planning a destination wedding to be prepared to take many leaps of faith throughout the process. “We consider ourselves extremely lucky with how our wedding turned out,” he says.
