Fans Can't Believe Virat Kohli's POTM Prize Money In VHT: 'Itne Ka Toh...' Virat Kohli’s 61-ball 77 won him Player of the Match in the VHT, but the ₹10,000 cheque sparked jokes online, given the former India captain’s massive net worth. Share Your Feedback Choose News18 on Google Virat Kohli won the Player of the Match award in his second and (likely) final match of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) on Friday for his 61-ball 77 against Gujarat. However, unlike the huge amount of money awarded in international cricket, which he’d be used to, here the number on the big cheque read Rs. 10,000. The amount was in accordance with domestic competitions in India, but Kohli’s fans couldn’t help but ridicule a bit, considering it won’t even push the needle in the former national skipper’s bank account. Kohli is one of the richest sportspersons in the world, with a reported net worth of over 1,000 crores in 2025. Kohli’s net worth has been built on years of his popularity as the country’s best all-format batter in the modern era, huge Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Indian Premier League (IPL) contracts, world-beating sponsorships and several big and small businesses. Delhi edged Gujarat by seven runs in the Elite Group D match on Friday, with Kohli and Rishabh Pant laying the platform before Gujarat collapsed from a position of promise. Asked to bat, Delhi were jolted early by the dismissal of opener Priyansh Arya, bringing Kohli to the crease inside the powerplay. After a watchful first ball, Kohli quickly found his rhythm, driving and pulling Gujarat’s pacers with authority. While wickets fell around him, he batted with fluency, racing to a 29-ball half-century, studded with 10 fours and a six. A second successive hundred looked likely before left-arm spinner Vishal Jayswal outfoxed him with a quicker delivery, leaving Delhi 108 for four. With momentum slipping, skipper Pant switched to an uncharacteristically restrained approach. He anchored the innings, curbing his usual aggression and building partnerships, most notably a 73-run stand with Harsh Tyagi. Pant reached his fifty off 64 balls before eventually falling to Jayswal. Late contributions from Simarjeet and Ishant Sharma pushed Delhi to 254 for 9. In reply, Gujarat stayed in the chase in patches but lost wickets in clusters, eventually folding for 247 in 47.4 overs to hand Delhi a narrow win.
