Amid the praise for Kempegowda International Airport, Infrastructure Development Minister M.B. Patil has said that the city will require another airport by 2033. In relation to this, the Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC) has issued a tender for the appointment of an expert consultancy firm to prepare a technical and financial feasibility report for a proposed second international airport. Three potential locations for the second airport have been identified as of now- Somanahalli and Choodahalli on Kanakapura Road, and a site near Nelamangala.
