‘The Pitt’ Returns To HBO Max With Nearly 200% U.S. Audience Increase For Season 2 Debut
Audiences were eager to get back inside the emergency room at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. The Pitt returned to HBO Max last week with 5.4M U.S. viewers tuning in for the premiere episode in its first three days of availability, which Warner Bros. Discovery says is up nearly 200% from the Season 1 debut within that timeframe. To-date, the premiere is up to 7.2M viewers ahead of Thursday night’s new episode, WBD adds. It is less common for WBD to share viewership data about streaming-only series, as opposed to shows that also air on the HBO linear channel, and as such there is no publicly available data to directly compare the three-day performance between Seasons 1 and 2. However, the company did previously reveal that Season 1 was averaging about 10M viewers per episode just ahead of the finale. That grew to 18M viewers per episode in September , following the show’s impressive Emmys sweep. Watch on Deadline According to Warner Bros. Discovery, The Pitt is currently pacing among the top five returning seasons in HBO Max platform history, both globally and in the U.S. From January 2 to 8 (the Season 2 premiere date), Season 1 was the fourth most-watched show on streaming, according to Luminate. The measurement company should have data at the top of next week to help paint a picture of Season 2’s early performance as it relates to the rest of the streaming landscape. Led by writer and executive producer Noah Wyle in the role of Dr. Michael Robinavitch, The Pitt features an ensemble cast that also includes LaNasa as Dana Evans, Taylor Dearden as Dr. Melissa King, Patrick Ball as Dr. Frank Langdon, Isa Briones as Dr. Trinity Santos, Fiona Dourif as Dr. Cassie McKay, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Samira Mohan, Shabana Azeez as Dr. Victoria Javadi, Gerran Howell as Dr. Dennis Whitaker and guest star Shawn Hatosy as Dr. Jack Abbot. Season 2 picks up 10 months after the final hour of Season 1, over Fourth of July weekend during a day-long shift.
