'Heartbroken' couple lose £22,000 after half of wedding guests don't show up Gray and their partner Nyx were left devastated after more than half their confirmed guests failed to attend their big day, leaving them financially struggling A bride has shared her heartbreak after more than half of her wedding guests didn't show up on the big day. To make matters worse, the newlyweds were left £22,000 out of pocket after forking out for what they believed would be a celebration for all 88 people who'd confirmed their attendance. Gray Narvaez-Dragion, the 19 who uses they/them pronouns, took to TikTok to express their anguish. In the emotional clip, which has since racked up over eight million views, the devastated newlywed shared: "88 people said yes... not even 40 showed up." The half-minute video also captured the heartbreaking sight of a near-deserted venue, with rows of empty tables set for guests who never materialised. Gray, from Iowa, posted under the handle @grayanxiety, and they along with their spouse Nyx were flooded with messages of sympathy from furious viewers after saying: "We cancelled our sparkler send off, private dance, dinner... cut entire reception short. Been in tears for hours over this." They subsequently uploaded additional clips displaying the numerous positive RSVPs the couple had received and their reaction to the crushing letdown. One particularly poignant video showed Gray with smudged, tear-streaked makeup alongside the words: "We literally sat in the empty ceremony room together and cried." Another comment added: "I spent so much trying to make this enjoyable for everyone. I have magnets and soap gifts made for everyone... and I have so much left. Nyx made spell jars and we were up until 2:30 this morning trying to make this enjoyable for everyone. "Most of my money was spent on things for the guests... and almost no one showed. Looking at our magnets makes me bawl... I can't even use my custom made soap samples because that makes me cry too. Why didn't they show up? I spent so much f*****g time trying to make everyone feel included." They went on: "The DJ also 'felt so bad [that] he made us use the photobooth I hadn't touched and took pics together," and shared that they'd even stumbled during their first dance. The substantial cost of the wedding left the pair in financial difficulty. They posted: "I can't afford our own food after I got fired and not even half attended. I'm devastated." Several kind-hearted followers offered to buy wedding presents for the couple to compensate for those they'd missed out on. Many TikTok users sympathised with Gray and Nyx's predicament. One person said: "It was a beautiful ceremony and those didn't show up, it's their loss," whilst another said: "Our table loved the soaps and spell jars. Our little trinkets. I'll take more, they're so cute and I appreciated even having little gifts for coming!" One added: "I hope you cut those people from your life. Don't accept any excuse. If...
