Nato giant warns âitâs the end of the worldâ if alliance crumbles over Trump Greenland threat â as troops land on island
POLAND has warned a Nato alliance collapse over Trumpâs Greenland threats would be âthe end of the world as we know itâ. It comes after crunch talks between America, Denmark and Greenland in Washington on Wednesday which failed to resolve the âfundamental disagreementâ over the mineral-rich island. As tensions build, Polandâs Prime Minister Donald Tusk has issued a chilling warning. Speaking at a press conference he said: âAn attempt to take over (part of) a NATO member state by another NATO member state would be a political disaster. âIt would be the end of the world as we know it, which guaranteed a world based on NATO solidarity, which held back the evil forces associated with communist terror or other forms of aggression.â Trump has repeatedly argued the US must own Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, to prevent Russia or China from gaining a foothold in the Arctic. It follows Trumpâs ramped up rhetoric about seizing the territory through economic or military means. On Wednesday, Trump said âanything lessâ than complete US control of Greenland is âunacceptableâ. Trump said that the island is âvitalâ for âthe Golden Domeâ he is building in a post on Truth Social, and that Nato should be helping him take the territory. Trump also hit out at Nato, claiming: âMilitarily, without the vast power of the United States, much of which I built during my first term, and am now bringing to a new and even higher level, NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent - Not even close!â The White House also shared a post on social media with the caption âwhich way, Greenland man?â The image shows two dog sleds carrying Greenlandâs flag with one path leading to the White House and...
