Deputy Election Commissioner holds review meeting on SIR in Coimbatore
Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, Deputy Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India, along with Archana Patnaik, Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls-2026 at a meeting held at the Collectorate on Wednesday. Collectors from six districts- Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar (Coimbatore), Manish S. Narnaware (Tiruppur), S. Kandasamy (Erode), Durgamoorthi (Namakkal), R. Brindha Devi (Salem) and Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru (Nilgiris)-were present. During the review, officials briefed the Election Commission on the status of electoral roll revision work in their respective districts. The discussions focused on identifying voters who have shifted their place of residence, deleting ineligible entries, including eligible voters left out of the rolls, and enrolling new voters. The Deputy Election Commissioner and the Chief Electoral Officer emphasised the need to re-verify deleted entries and ensure accuracy in the electoral rolls while strictly following the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. Preparations for the publication of the final electoral rolls in February 2026 were also reviewed.
