Driver arrested for beating his wife to death

The Porur police on Saturday arrested a 40-year-old man who beat his wife, Rosy, to death following a quarrel at his house in the area. The accused has been identified as Sathyaraj, 40, a car driver who had been residing with his family at R.E. Nagar, Porur. The couple had two children aged nine and seven years. Police said the children went to their aunt’s house on Thursday and informed them that their parents had a quarrel the previous night. The sister of the deceased alerted their relatives and the police. When they went to the house, Rosy was lying unconscious with injury marks. Rosy was rushed to a government hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead. A special team of police traced Sathyaraj to Arambakkam and arrested him. Police said that he was under the influence of alcohol, and quarreled with his wife on Wednesday night. He thrashed her to death and stayed there the whole night. Later, he escaped, police said.
