Susan Kelechi Watson To Recur On âHigh Potentialâ As Character With Ties To Daniel Sunjataâs Karadec
After High Potential showrunner Todd Harthan teased Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata in âHigh Potentialâ (Jessica Perez/Disney) some âexciting guest starsâ to come, Susan Kelechi Watson has joined Season 2 of the ABC light procedural. The This Is Us alumna has been cast in a recurring role as âa woman from Karadecâs ( Daniel Sunjata ) pastâ who would first appear in the Jan. 27 episode. Could she be playing the detectiveâs ex-fiancĂ©e Lucia, who he revealed in Season 1 had left him because he was married to his job? Watsonâs character is described âwry, open-hearted, and independent. Always chasing whatâs next, not out of recklessness, but out of a real appetite for life. She follows her curiosity wherever it leads, whether thatâs a new city, a new flavor, or a new chapter.â Watch on Deadline Airing Jan. 27 at 10 PM on ABC, the episode titled âNPCâ sees the LAPD Major Crimes Division investigating the mysterious murder of a former esports champion, whose gaming rival and a sushi chef are under suspicion. Time spent with her son Elliot (Matthew Lamb) unexpectedly provides Morgan ( Kaitlin Olson ) with insights on the case as Karadec reconnects with a woman from his past. The addition of Watson to the cast comes after Morgan sparked romance with mysterious art consultant Rhys ( Aiden Turner ) in the midseason return, which Harthan noted is â planting the seed â of whatâs to come. Meanwhile, many viewers are wondering if and when she and Karadec will finally get together. âI think we have some of our biggest and most exciting guest stars coming in the back half, and weâve already had some incredible ones and weâve got more coming,â Harthan previously told Deadline. âItâs been sort of an embarrassment of riches as it relates to the talent that weâre getting to come in and play with us,â he added. âAnd I think that as we tumble towards our Season 2 penultimate, finale, I think the audience can look forward to just as satisfying, if not even more exhilarating push-off into a potential Season 3.â High Potential , created by Drew Goddard based on the French-Belgian format, is produced by 20th Television, the studio behind This Is Us, on which Watson played Beth Pearson. She recently starred opposite Uzo Aduba and Giancarlo Esposito on the Netflix mystery series The Residence and is currently in production on the feature Donât Ever Wonder opposite Nia Long, also for Netflix. Watson is repped by UTA, Authentic and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum.
