Rejoice: Ben Affleck Is Wearing Sneakers Again

Don’t call it a comeback. Hollywood’s biggest sneakerhead has been here for years. And despite fears over his recent hiatus, there are still few celebrities who know sneakers quite like Ben Affleck. Boston’s finest has long had one of the deepest rotations in the game, a sneaker collection that transcends cheap promo for 2023’s Air and instead belies a deep-rooted love for the history of kicks and the people who make them. Affleck is brand-agnostic, rocking everything from archival Nike SB Dunks to K-Swiss sleepers you probably didn’t even know existed. Over the last year, however, Affleck’s sneaker habits had tapered off. Where once he laced up Off-White Nike grails and classic Jordans he now sported dress shoes, leather dress sneakers, and rugged boots. The change felt so notable that our colleagues at British GQ went so far as to dive into it just last week . It seemed a page had turned. Maybe Affleck had missed the news that sneaker resale is dead and flipped the whole collection (not that he needs the money). This week, while in New York to promote the upcoming Matt Damon team-up film The Rip , Affleck corrected course swiftly and surely. He took to the streets in an all-time classic pair of SB Dunks: the Diamond Supply Co. collaborative “Black Diamond” edition. With its clean silver Swoosh and Tiffany blue accents, the colorway is part of the now-legendary run of collaborations between Diamond Supply Co. and Nike SB. It’s one of the definitive partnerships in Dunk history-and the black version, in particular, is a pair a head like Affleck couldn’t call his collection complete without. One has to wonder if Affleck’s ears were burning. It serves us right for ever doubting the man who sits at the top of Hollywood’s sneaker throne. That’s a lesson learned on our end: You come at the king, you best not miss. Although in this case, we’re happy to see this particular shot miss the net. Keep lacing them up, Ben.
