Why Is LSG Sending Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan To South Africa During SA20? Lucknow Super Giants will send Avesh, Mohsin Khan, and Naman Tiwari to Durban for rehab with Durban Super Giants staff, aiming full fitness before IPL 2026 after injury setbacks. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will reportedly fly out their pacers Avesh and Mohsin Khan, and possibly new signing Naman Tiwari, to Durban during the upcoming SA20 season. There, they’ll practice with Durban Super Giants, LSG’s subsidiary in the South African competition, to complete their rehab from injuries. According to Cricbuzz , the fast bowlers are expected to travel to Durban sometime next week. The move is aimed at giving Avesh and Mohsin, who have been sidelined for extended periods, a structured pathway back to full fitness ahead of the IPL, which begins on March 26. The month-long SA20 will begin on December 26. Although none of the players involved are contracted with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or currently attached to their respective state sides, the franchise still sought clearance from the board to avoid any issues. Avesh and Mohsin form key components of LSG’s pace battery. While Avesh partly missed the last IPL season, Mohsin was ruled out before the first match. The former, a right-arm quick who has played for India, has been out of competitive action since IPL 2025, while Mohsin’s lay-off has been running even longer. LSG can’t afford another season of injury issues, which derailed their 2025 even before it started. At the IPL 2026 auction, they signed Wanindu Hasaranga (Rs 2 crore), Anrich Nortje (Rs 2 crore), Mukul Choudhary (Rs 2.6 crore), Tiwari (Rs 1 crore), Akshat Raghuwanshi (Rs 2.2 crore), and Josh Inglis (Rs 8.6 crore). Still, several of their players are quite injury-prone, including Nortje and the prodigious Mayank Yadav, who hasn’t had much taste of competitive cricket for the past two years.
