Amaravati to anchor Knowledge Economy as India’s Quantum Valley: Naidu
Visakhapatnam is rapidly emerging as a global hub for data centres, backed by robust subsea cable connectivity, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) while outlining Andhra Pradesh’s long-term technology and infrastructure vision. “Amaravati will anchor the State’s knowledge economy with the establishment of a dedicated Quantum Valley, while Tirupati is being developed as a Space City, ”he said. Addressing students and stakeholders during the “Quantum Talk by CM CBN” program, the Chief Minister stated that Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation technologies by creating specialized regional hubs. Mr. Naidu mentioned that regions such as Anantapur and Kadapa “will evolve into major electronics and aerospace centres, creating a distributed but interconnected innovation ecosystem across the State.” Recalling his government’s pioneering IT Vision formulated nearly 25 years ago, Mr. Naidu said bold and forward-looking decisions had then laid the foundation for the IT revolution in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. “Just as America has Silicon Valley, we are now building Amaravati as India’s Quantum Valley,” he added, emphasising that scientific temperament and innovation are integral to India’s civilisational heritage. The Chief Minister highlighted India’s ancient achievements in urban planning, mathematics, astronomy, and education, citing institutions such as Takshashila and Nalanda, and innovations like Ayurveda and the discovery of zero. Mr. Naidu noted that India, once known as the ‘golden bird’, contributed nearly 40% of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) two millennia ago and has now risen to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. Mr. Naidu said, “India has successfully leveraged technology to drive a services-sector revolution, surpassing even the Green and Industrial Revolutions in impact. Indian professionals in medicine, engineering, and information technology have earned global recognition, with leaders such as Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella and Arvind Krishna heading multinational technology giants.” Referring to recent investments, he said, “Google is set to establish its largest data centre in Visakhapatnam, further strengthening the city’s position in the global digital infrastructure landscape. Major industrial corridors linking Visakhapatnam- Chennai, Chennai- Bengaluru and Bengaluru-Hyderabad are also taking shape,” he said. The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh is also being developed as a Quantum and Green Hydrogen Valley, with a clear roadmap for the next 20 years. He underlined the importance of the National Quantum Mission in expanding investments and skill development, and called upon Indian researchers to lead the global quantum revolution, just as they did in information technology. Explaining the transformative potential of quantum computing, Mr. Naidu said it would play a crucial role in areas such as healthcare, power systems, sustainable agriculture, financial modelling, materials discovery, and weather forecasting. “By integrating quantum computing with AI, satellites and drone technologies, we can deliver sustainable solutions at lower costs and scale,” Mr. Naidu, expressing confidence that Andhra Pradesh will emerge as a key driver of India’s future-ready, technology- driven economy.
