Attack on gatekeeper: Thikkodi native nabbed

The Payyoli police have arrested a Thikkodi native who was accused of beating up a railway gatekeeper following a ruckus over parking in the middle of the road near the railway track. The accused was identified as Rajeesh. The alleged assault took place near the railway gate at Thikkodi on December 24. A case was registered following the complaint of Dhaneesh, the gatekeeper who sustained injuries in the incident and was admitted to a government hospital at Koyilandy. The gatekeeper alleged that Rajeesh and his friend locked horns with him when he asked them to remove the motorcycle they stopped in an obstructive way near the railway gate. The two, who manhandled the gatekeeper following the rucks, also barged into his room with death threats. Police sources said a search was on for the friend of the arrested man in the same area. They said the case was registered under Section 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
