Plea for transparent online booking system in major temples

The Citizens Voice Club has alleged that when compared with major temples such as Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Kollur Mookambika, Dharmasthala, Udupi, Guruvayur, and Sabarimala, several prominent HR&CE-administered temples in Tamil Nadu lack transparency and efficiency in the advance booking of sevas and darshan. It said Palani Dhandayuthapani Temple, Meenakshi Amman Temple, Arunachaleswarar Temple at Tiruvannamalai, Thiruvaerkadu at Chennai, Samayapuram Mariamman Temple, and Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple continue to face serious concerns in this regard. Devotees are increasingly distressed by the need to run behind temple staff/touts, often with or without recommendation letters, as seen in temples like Tiruchendur. The growing menace of middlemen and unethical practices involving certain intermediaries has become a curse, eroding the sanctity of temple administration. A robust, transparent, and uniform online advance booking system for darshan and sevas in major temples would not only instil confidence among devotees but also make Tamil Nadu proud as a leader in ethical and technology-driven temple administration, it said.
