VLADIMIR Putin’s bid to launch Russia’s own version of Viagra has flopped, despite a £10 million state-funded research project. Vlad ordered scientists to create a home grown sex boost pill to replace Western products Viagra and Cialis after sanctions hit Russia. However, after a decade of expensive research, Russian scientists have fallen short of producing an effective erection stimulant drug, sourced from scent taken from Musk Deer. The Russian potency drug plan , was launched in 2016 and focused on studies of substances extracted from sabre-toothed deer bred on a state-funded farm. Around one billion rubles - £9.5 million - was spent developing the impotence pill, known as Muskuliv, as costs ballooned 60 per cent over budget. Now experts say the project has created nothing more than a herbal remedy, not measuring up to Western developed erectile dysfunction drugs. READ MORE WORLD NEWS Immunologist Professor Andrei Prodeus revealed that musk-based pills are - at best - offering a psychological effect. Prodeus said: “Thirty per cent of erectile dysfunction cases are psychological. Even a placebo can help. “But a real drug needs a clear mechanism of action - this doesn’t.” The Accounts Chamber reported the fiasco directly to Putin and asked the Prosecutor General to investigate the huge costs. Most read in The US Sun The investigation also revealed that a musk deer farm , which opened four years late, was meant to be home to a state of the art laboratory, however was never completed. The farm has also only produced 128 grams of the musk, despite promising 600 grams. The rights to the drug has since been palmed off to a private pharmaceutical firm subsequently privatising profits, despite being completely backed using state funds. Online punters have been scathing. One asked: “Why is this even being done with public money?” Another posted: “Name one state project that didn’t fail and waste billions.” Putin is known to be a fan of deer products, said to boost potency. In 2019, the Russian despot questioned the head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia - Vladimir Uyba - seeking assurance that the farm was being closely guarded by special forces veterans. “Your instruction is currently being implemented. The completion of all work is scheduled for 2022,” Uyba said. His remote mountain palace in the Altai Mountains has its own deer farm where antlers are sawn off terrified Siberian stags so the tyrant and his cronies can take blood baths. The ancient tradition is seen as a testosterone-driven elixir to improve male potency, but also as bringing multiple health benefits. The extraction of deer blood from antlers for medicinal baths is said to restore youth and slow aging in women. There is, however, no medical evidence to support it being a cure for ailments.
