The Actor Awards Sets Inaugural Met Gala-Inspired Red Carpet Fashion Theme
The Actor Awards , formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, is getting a Met Gala -inspired glow up. The guild announced Thursday morning that the awards will have a “fashion theme” on the red carpet for the first time ever: “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour From the ’20s and ’30s.” The guidelines are part of the annual film and TV awards show’s new collaboration with fashion magazine Elle. Popular on Variety “As the Actor Awards continue to evolve for a global audience, partnering with Elle allows us to elevate fashion as a central part of the show’s creative expression,” said Actor Awards showrunner and executive producer Jon Brockett. “It’s an opportunity to align the red carpet, the show and the culture around it into a single, cohesive moment.” Elle editor-in-chief Nina Garcia said, “Elle has a long history with Hollywood, and we have always championed both emerging talent and established stars. Our vision of fashion is forever intertwined with what we see onscreen, so I’m thrilled that Elle is joining the Actor Awards as its first-ever fashion partner. We’re excited to bring our distinct editorial point of view to an event that celebrates creativity, craft and the power of storytelling.” The news comes on the heels of the Met Gala-inspired red carpet at this year’s Golden Globes . The arrivals, like the Met Ball, had photographers and video crews on either side of the carpet as well as a brief photo-op on a flight of stairs positioned just after the photo line. Actor Awards nominations were announced Jan. 7 by Connor Storrie and Janelle James. Paul Thomas Anderson’s action epic “One Battle After Another” leads the field with a record-breaking seven nominations, the most in the ceremony’s history. The Warner Bros. release earned bids for cast ensemble, stunt ensemble and five individual acting nominations - Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor. Warner Bros. is the overall leading studio with 12 noms across four titles, followed by Focus Features with six, A24 with four and Netflix with three. Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” also from Warner Bros., scored five nominations, tying it for the second-most nominations in SAG history.
