Foot and mouth disease vaccination camp for cattle from December 29
The eighth phase of Foot and Mouth disease vaccination camp for cattle will be held across Thoothukudi district from December 29 to January 28, 2026. According to a press release from the district administration, cattle affected by foot and mouth disease suffer from fever, loss of appetite and formation of blisters on the foot, mouth and hooves. As the disease is highly infectious and spreads through air, it leads to a decline in milk production, causing economic loss to farmers. To carry out the vaccination drive, teams led by veterinary assistants have been formed across Thoothukudi district. The farmers are urged to make use of the vaccination camp and protect their cattle from the disease. The camp aims to vaccine 1,10,000 cattle in the district, as part of the National Animal Disease Control Programme. In Tenkasi district, the vaccination camp will be conducted across the district from December 29 to January 18, 2026, for a period of 21 days. Published - December 24, 2025 08:17 pm IST
