JD(U) seeks special police vigil on Tejashwi Yadav’s alleged aides
The ruling Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday (December 24, 2025) demanded that the Bihar Police take “special vigil” over the activities of history-sheeters and alleged close aides of Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), who are claimed to be accompanying him on his current foreign trip. In a one-page letter addressed to the Bihar Director General of Police, JD(U) MLC and party chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar urged special monitoring of the activities of Ramiz Nemat Khan and Dewa Gupta, who he alleged were close aides of Mr. Yadav and were accompanying him on the foreign visit. Following his party’s poor performance in the recently concluded Assembly elections, Mr. Yadav reportedly went on a foreign trip. He was also not present during the five-day Winter Session of the State Legislature, which concluded on December 5, 2025. The RJD won 25 seats in the 243-member Assembly, while the Bharatiya Janata Party the JD(U) secured 89 and 85 seats respectively. “It was during ongoing winter session of State legislature on December 5, 2025, it came to my knowledge through media that hon’ble Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has gone on a foreign trip along with history-sheeter Ramiz Nemat Khan who hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur (now Shravasti) district and was, earlier in 2021, arrested in a murder case along with his wife, father-in-law and others,” Mr. Kumar alleged in the letter. Mr. Kumar also mentioned that Mr. Khan’s wife, Zeba Rizwan, had contested the Tulsipur Assembly election while in jail but lost the election. In the letter, Mr. Kumar further said that the “possibility of another history-sheeter accompanying Mr. Yadav on his foreign trip cannot be ruled out”. He named Dewa Gupta of Motihari in East Champaran district, whose name, he said, was included among the top 100 criminals of the district. “It is being said that total 28 serious criminal cases including murder, extortion and land grabbing are lodged against Deva Gupta, son of Hari Kishore Gupta of Chhatauni Chowk of Motihari town and a reward of ₹1,00,000 has also been announced on him,” Mr. Kumar stated in the letter. Mr. Gupta had contested the 2025 Assembly election on an RJD ticket from the Motihari Sadar constituency but lost to BJP candidate Pramod Kumar. “You’re requested to take cognisance of above mentioned facts and keep strict vigil on people with criminal background who allegedly have gone on foreign trip along with Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav,” Mr. Kumar concluded in his letter to the State police chief.
