'He's A Dead Man Walking': Trump Targets 'Pathetic' Stephen Colbert In Late-Night Broadside Donald Trump called Stephen Colbert “a pathetic trainwreck” and claimed the host’s ratings were “nonexistent.” US President Donald Trump launched a fresh attack on late-night television, singling out host Stephen Colbert in a series of posts as he renewed his criticism of network programming he says is hostile to him. Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, Donald Trump called Stephen Colbert “a pathetic trainwreck" and claimed the host’s ratings were “nonexistent." The US President also referred to Stephen Colbert as a “dead man walking" and urged CBS executives to “put him to sleep." Donald Trump followed up by broadening his criticism to late-night programming across major networks, asking which outlet- CBS, ABC or NBC- had the “worst" host. He asserted that late-night shows share “high salaries" and “really low ratings," without citing evidence. Recommended Stories The US President then went further, suggesting regulatory consequences for coverage he views as unfavorable. In another post, Donald Trump questioned whether broadcast licenses should be terminated when network newscasts and late-night shows are “almost 100% negative" toward him, the MAGA movement and the Republican Party. The remarks followed a rerun of a December episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that aired hours after CBS broadcast the Kennedy Center Honors, an event hosted by Donald Trump. Stephen Colbert, 61, is slated to end his run in May 2026. CBS has said the decision to conclude the show was based on financial considerations. Donald Trump previously celebrated the show’s planned end. In July, he wrote that he “absolutely loved" the cancellation and warned other hosts including Jimmy Kimmel. He also praised Greg Gutfeld, saying he was “better than all of them combined." Click here to add News18 as your preferred news source on Google. Follow News18 on Google .
