Spotify has revealed that it won’t “penalise” AI-generated songs despite backlash from subscribers about them taking over on new playlists. Artificial intelligence has started to make waves in a number of creative fields. However, AI has become increasingly prevalent in music more than in most other places. Fake artists with AI-generated music have popped up, bamboozling listeners who are unable to tell the difference. We’ve seen this with Sienna Rose , who has garnered almost 3 million listeners a month - including Selena Gomez in that - as well as Xania Monet. The AI-generated tracks have become a headache for both bands and listeners alike, with many begging the likes of Spotify and YouTube Music to get rid of the non-human songs from their recommendations. Spotify users dismayed by AI tracks on playlists Spotify users have, again, complained about AI-generated songs and artists dominating playlists such as New Releases, Discover Weekly, and Viral 50. One pointed out that at least five of the ten songs on the Spotify recommended playlists were AI-generated, and one was even brazen enough to be called ‘No Algorithm’. “There were two more AI songs in my Discover Weekly, so 7/30 songs.. just gradually becoming more and more at this point,” one Redditor reported. “I left and moved to Deezer. I heard tidal is good too. I was so tired of AI filling up my music and having to do homework to figure out if they were real or not,” another said. Spotify responds to AI songs taking However, the streaming service says it isn’t promoting or negatively affecting any AI songs. They haven’t really got a handle on it. In a statement to TrustedReviews , Spotify said: “Spotify does not create or own any music, and does not promote or penalise tracks created using AI tools.” Back in September, Spotify noted that they would be attempting to up their game when it comes to detecting AI tracks. They’ve already removed tens of millions of them in a clampdown. Many users have reported that they’ve not come across any AI tracks, but those who do are incredibly vocal about it. However, integration with AI isn’t going anywhere. Premium Subscribers have the option to use AI to generate playlists for them based on prompts. Content shared from www.dexerto.com .
